iPhone 5s can't turn on now. What do I do next?

I just faced this issue. For over a week, my iPhone 5s of 3 years was stuck on the black screen with Apple logo after I decided to switch it off and on again when the phone began to lag. This evening, I tried to put my phone in recovery mode, plugged it into iTunes on my computer and clicked Update to update the iOs system. However, right at the end of the update, the phone got disconnected and the update failed to complete. The phone went back to the black screen with apple logo.

So I decided to force switch off the phone and turn it on again, however this time to my horror, the phone couldn't even turn on again. What has happened? Has my phone completely died and there's no way of recovering my data inside my phone? Or is this simply a battery issue, and I should just get a replacement battery and things should work fine?

Can anyone advise? Thank you so much!

Try the remaining actions of:

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201412

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- Try another cable

- Try on another computer

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Thank you IIIaass, I tried charging my phone to an wall outlet and it worked to switch it on again, however it went back to black screen with the apple logo :/

I tried to update my phone a second time on iTunes, however the same issue occurred. It went from 'Verifying updated iPhone software'... 'Updating iPhone firmware' on my iTunes, while at the same time, you could see the update bar underneath the apple logo on my phone increasing. It was only until it got to the very last part on the update bar, that somehow iTunes disconnected from my phone and the update bar screen stayed on my phone for a few more seconds before it went back to black then started up again with the white screen only to go back to the black screen with apple logo.

What is going on? Would trying it on another computer work? Or third party data recovery programmes?
